London Zoo was the first ‘scientific zoological garden’ in the modern world, founded in 1824 and opened to the public in 1828 as a way of funding the scientific work. Now one of the finest Zoos in the world, London Zoo is visited by several million people each year.
At london zoo you will get first hand experience of over 600 species of amazing animals including lions, tigers, giraffes, monkeys, fish, spiders and many, many more.
Watch the penguins and pelicans embarking in some fishy goings on at feeding time. Visit the ‘happy families’ area, where you can see meerkats keeping an eye on their neighbours from rocky outcrops. Younger visitors will love (or scream at) an encounter with farmyard favourites at the ‘touch paddock’ in the children’s zoo.
A day at the zoo offers the ultimate back to nature experience and supports the active conservation of many amazing species.
